Poplar Culture : The Celebration of a Tree was an invite-only show benefitting the Wharton Escherick Museum in Paoli, PA.  The show took place in the Historic Yellow Springs Gallery in Chester Springs, PA and featured pieces made from a single tulip poplar tree that once stood outside Wharton Esherick's studio.  The book accompanying show featuring the work of all of the craftspeople and artists involved, as well as the story behind the show, can be purchased here.  I selected a 21x 93x 3" slab for my piece of the tree, which ended up being a very human-sized scale, and decided to taper the edges, leading to the thickest part of the center of the slab, where I carved out a thin, narrow bridge.
